OBJECTIVES
The Post Graduate Diploma In Education (Teaching) has the following specific objectives:
Enable students to broaden and deepen their general academic knowledge and specific subject knowledge so that they may:
- Be well informed of current academic scholarship.
- Use research and observation findings for ongoing educational enhancement.
- Relate and communicate educational concepts and academic scholarship to their students.
- Apply ICT knowledge to perform education administration at school.
Equip candidates with knowledge of theories, skills, and tools of teaching and learning so that they may:
- Implement a variety of effective teaching strategies.
- Develop personal philosophy of education, and
- Understand the cognitive development of their students.
Instill high standards of professional conduct and a sense of teaching as a vacation among candidates so that they may:
- Value continuing education and ongoing personal improvement.
- Communicate the spirit of good citizenship and sacrifice for the good of the nation.
- Abide by the teacher professional code of conduct.
